Privacy policy
VelTxt is an SMS marketing app for Shopify stores, operated by VelTxt, United States. This policy explains what personal information the app handles, why, and what you can do about it.
Our role
We act as a processor. The Shopify merchant who installs VelTxt is the controller of their customers' personal information. They decide who is texted and what is said; we process that information on their instructions in order to send the messages. If you are a shopper and want your information removed, you can contact us directly at veltxt@shimistyle.me and we will action it and inform the merchant.
What we collect
- Phone number and first name, taken from the merchant's Shopify store, only for customers who have agreed to receive marketing text messages from that store.
- Message records — which messages were sent to which number, when, whether they were delivered, whether the link was clicked, and whether the recipient replied STOP.
- Consent records — where an opt-in came from, when it happened, and the wording the shopper agreed to.
We do not collect payment card details, addresses, dates of birth, or any special category information. We do not buy phone numbers from anyone, and we do not send to a number that has not opted in.
Why we use it
To send the marketing text messages the customer agreed to receive from that merchant, to write those messages using the merchant's own products and reviews, and to report back to the merchant what was sent and what it cost. That is the whole purpose. We do not use it for anything else.
Who we share it with
We share a phone number with our SMS carrier, Telnyx, for the sole purpose of delivering the message to that number. That is the only party we share it with.
We never sell personal information, and we never rent or share it for anyone else's marketing. We do not share it with data brokers or advertising networks. We will disclose information only where we are legally required to.
How long we keep it
We keep a customer's phone number and name for as long as the merchant is using the app.
- If the merchant uninstalls VelTxt, we delete their customer data within 30 days.
- If a customer opts out, we delete their name and remove the number from all sending within 30 days.
We keep a minimal opt-out record — the number in a one-way hashed form and the date it opted out — after that, so we never text that number again. That record cannot be used to contact anyone.
How it's protected
Personal information is encrypted in transit (TLS) and encrypted at rest. Access to the systems holding it is limited to the people who need it to operate the service, protected by individual accounts and multi-factor authentication, and access is logged. We collect the minimum we need to send a text and nothing more.
Your rights
- Stop the texts
- Reply STOP to any message at any time and the texts stop. You can also email veltxt@shimistyle.me and ask to be opted out.
- Ask what we hold
- Email veltxt@shimistyle.me and we will tell you what information we hold about you.
- Ask for deletion
- Email veltxt@shimistyle.me and we will delete it, and ask the merchant to do the same on their side.
- Correct it
- Email veltxt@shimistyle.me if something we hold is wrong.
We answer these requests without charge. Depending on where you live you may have further rights under laws such as the CCPA or the GDPR; we honour those requests through the same address.
Children
VelTxt is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.
Changes and contact
